Not so SMART meter...

Like many others my supplier went tits up end of last year
I got gifted to Eon
I have a gas account and a leccy account but while both are on on my Eon login, i cant have a smart meter as the 2 are separate accounts and Eon cant work out how to join them...
After the call i thought....why cant they CLICK CLICK close my 2 accounts and CLICK open 1 dual fuel account?
They owe me £95 on the gas, I owe them £65 on the leccy so no great problem there
Tomorrow ill ask why not and get the reason why not..
(the cookers 35A supply is a clue on consumption though)

Your header is somewhat misleading. Your post relates to an account issue which has nothing to do with smart meters per se. As you have 2 meters today, then I see no reason why E.oN cannot fit smart meters. There are many consumers who have their electricity supplied by supplier A, and their gas by supplier B. Your situation is not that different: your two accounts just sit with a single supplier.
Someone in E.oN is fobbing you off. My advice: raise a written complaint.0 -

It can still raise final bills for the two old meters on the two separate accounts, and it can update the two National Databases with the new meter serial numbers.
I still think that it is worthy of a complaint: complaints get dealt with by more senior CS team members.0 -

E.oN does not need to wait until a Kraken issue is resolved to make what is nothing more than a simple meter change - unless it chooses to do so!If it is a Kraken issue then I suspect they are trying to stay within the automated processes and not do a bunch of manual work-arounds that may later have to be unstitched...They will have multiple customers in the same position and they would appear to have judged that they would rather stay within the system and fix it, rather than bent/break the system they have moved everyone onto...So yes, it may well be a commercial decision to wait, but not sure a complaint is going to change that...1

They at first offered a leccy smart meter.............
Then rang me to say they couldnt do that
How is any of this helping consumers or even backing up the adverts they have offering smart meters?
All this technology and no chance of 2 smart meters? what if i move to a new supplier for dual fuel? Now we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...0 -
I had this very issue when i was with Octopus (and as E.ON Next use the same system, Kraken it will be the same). When a customer has the gas and elec on two accounts no metering work can get booked in, as the system does not send the "flows", Kraken will shoot out a error saying it can't be booked in. The two accounts need to merge into one, while that does sound simple, it's not.
When Co-op Energy customers was moved onto Kraken loads of people had a gas account, and a elec account, they merged them, but the billing was then incorrect, statements didn't get issued and DD's failed and it was right old mess. Since then they have stopped merging accounts.
Anyone that needs two accounts merged it goes to tech now, and when tech have time they do them in bulk every few months. Hope this helps!

If I change gas to British Gas they will supply a SM, Eon will supply a leccy SM..
How crazy is that

Eon
Gas S/C = 27.22p/day 7.22p/kwh
Leccy S/C = 48.13p/day 27.86p/kwh
Which would be best to move supplier? Now we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...0
