I'm looking for the best deal I can find on Castrol Magnatec 10w40 oil but have not found any, any help on this one please.

The BEST deal on oils, can be found via a friendly independent garage/mechanic.

It doesn't apply to all brands of oil - just Vauxhalls own (can't confirm, but understood to be Comma=Esso) They have a wide range of spec, which covers virtually all make cars.

Vauxhall run something called Trade Club, which allows & encourages independent repairers to use GENUINE parts.The prices are discounted substantially from list price, much lower than usual 'trade' discounts.

It costs nothing for your mechanic to join, even if he's a one man outfit.

They have permanent offer of buy 3 get 1 free on oil, so you'd probably buy more than you want initially, but maybe share with a friend, to make it more worthwhile?

10-40 would be around £23 for 4x5ltrs.

multa, you were correct, halfords were pricing there castrol 10w40 magnatec 4.5ltr on offer at 20% off at £17.59 last week and this offer has now ended,

but here's a tip Xdash, if you go into your local B&Q diy store, there standard price is near to £18! for the identical item.

if you have access to a 'Costco wholesalers', whick is like a trade outlet like makro, they tend to castrol 10w40 oil quite cheap also, your looking at around £15 in VAT.

but, if this doesnt tickle your pickle, halfords are doing an offer on there own brand oil, which is 1/3 off on halfords brand oil: which is made by Esso

i think the price of it is around £12.66 for a 5ltr gallon

Thanks for all your help with one I went into Halfords and and they had a 1/3 off their syntehic oil so was £11.99 for 10w40 for what I needed.

Do you absolutely have to use Castro Magnatec?? If you look at the classification of the oil there will be an API code (e.g. CD, CE, CF for diesel oils, SG, SL etc for oils for petrol engines).
If you go into a motor factors you should be able to buy a semi-synthetic oil to this grade for about £8 - £9 for 5 litres. Fully synthetic will probably take you to the £12- £14 mark.
