McLarenCS chasing me for Pure Planet debt which is not mine!
Hello
I moved out of a property on 20/01/2020 and McLaren Credit Services are chasing me for a bill dated from 21/01/2020. I am assuming this is because it took a while for the address to change with Experian (which is where the credit agency got my details).
I have confirmed over the phone and in writing several times and supplied a letter from my local authority confirming I was not in the property on 21/01/2020 however the debt is still showing against my name. I am assuming they will not remove my name as it suits them to have an person's name against the debt.
What concerns me is I'm in the middle of a mortgage application and I'm worried that a missed payment could be applied to my credit report in the meantime. I am that worried about this that I am actually considering just paying the debt and then trying to fight to get it back (which I know I probably never will).
Can anyone give any advice on whether will my credit report could be affected by this and if so what kind of timeline would I be looking at?
Thank You.

If you moved out on the 20/01/2020 and gave them a meter reading they would have send you a final bill.
TO send the bill already dated one day later is extremely efficient.
What makes you believe that a bill dated one day after you moved out with the energy use up to this date is not you debt?
How do you think a final bill works?3 -
The bill relates to the energy supply for period from 21/01/2020 to 25/02/2020 (dates after I had moved out of the property).0

How can a bill you say is dated 21/01/2020 bill future usage?
When was your final bill issued for the time until you moved out? This must also have been after you moved out and seems to be different from this one.0 -
pochase said:How can a bill you say is dated 21/01/2020 bill future usage? You seem to have misunderstood what the OP said. They have never claimed that the bill was dated 21/01/2020. They stated "bill dated from 21/01/2020", ie. that was the start date of the bill.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Yes, you are correct.
OP, in this case the question were you the owner of the property and sold it, or did you rent?
Most likely the property was not occupied for a month. If a new tenant moved in later and started the supply on the 25th the period you are charged for it should be responsibility of the landlord from the day your rental contract ended.
If you were the owner the day of completion would be the day your responsibility ended.0 -
Thanks all but I'm not really looking for clarification on the bill. The only reason I am being chased for that is because the credit agency took a while to change my address and that is where the credit agency got my name from. I am more concerned whether this could affect my mortgage application. Can anyone advise on this?0

It might be that the landlord is expecting you to pay for usage when you moved out by claiming they date they took on the supply is 26/02/2020rmp7926 said:The bill relates to the energy supply for period from 21/01/2020 to 25/02/2020 (dates after I had moved out of the property).
This could be because you gave them one months notice and moved out early handing the keys back to the letting agent, this wouldn't be unknown for a letting agent/Landlord to do this whilst they get a new tenant for a property when the tenant moves out before the end of the notice period.
