Android devices: managing "disabled" apps

Jenni_D said:A launcher will be built-in to the phone OS ... there is a default Android launcher, but each manufacturer tends to implement their own version of the default launcher. Then you can also install 3rd party launchers (installed like apps) if you wish. A launcher does what the name implies - it "launches" the screen configuration when the phone boots/reboots; that's the only time it starts (unless you manually start a 3rd party launcher).
If the phone is put to "sleep" (i.e. you press the button to turn off the screen) then the phone is still running, so the launcher used when turning the phone on will still be in place.OK thanks, I very rarely reboot my devices. It's normally only when device informs me the system needs updating. Very occasionally I'll reboot if something strange/untoward is happening or if power is totally lost, but both are unusual events. This probably explains why "Launcher" is something I rarely see on my devices as I'm a "put to sleep" / "Wake up to use device" (no reboot needed) kind of user.
I've been working this way on numerous devices since purchasing my first Android device around 2010.Reginald Molehusband0 -
You never really "see" the launcher itself anyway ... you just see the result of it having started.Jenni x1

Sorry but I'm giving up after this reply ... what you actually see when you use the phone is the result of the launcher used by that phone. Simple as that - change to a different launcher and you'll see a different result. And the launcher "launches" only when you (re)start the phone.
I've said all of this already.Jenni x1 -

Feel free to Google it if you really want to find out more but it's pretty dry techie stuff.1 -
Apologies if I shouldn't ask the question here, but is there any way of disabling the 'Remove permissions if app isn't used' ? I see I can do it for individual apps, but the function itself is a pain in the proverbial. When it first appeared I could simply open the list of apps which were going to have permissions removed and highlight the ones I didn't want touched. That doesn't seem to work any more.
