The problem is that he can argue you did a bank transfer of £105 for something else.If the name and bank details all add up Tesco bank would not flag the transaction as suspicious. You could do a recall of funds (probably too late now) but he can turn rounded argue the transfer was genuine. If you paid the money to the correct account then the error is unfortunately with you not Tesco bank. When I worked for a bank in Oz, we had a file of recall of fund requests where people had transferred money to buy items on gumtree etc but not received the goods. We couldn't do anything to reverse the transaction without consent (some transactions might be genuine) but it was frustrating to see do many issues.May you find your sister soon Helli.

I have asked him to check with his bank if he believes theres a problem (i.e. funds not showing), but he hasn't responded since.

Ah, then the funds may have become stuck in his bank's holding account. If your bank have paid the money over but not received them back then the money has cleared your account. If his bank has received the money there might be a reason it hasn't cleared into his account. This could be for a number of reasons (some of which he may not be told) so he could be being honest here. How many days since you made payment and how did you make it? (BACS, FP, Chaps).Did you get verification that the account name and number matched when you setup payment? If you sent money to a non-valid account it would return automatically to your bank (then to your account). It might be the account number is valid but the name is not?Or he could be lying.(I worked in internal audit for a global bank 10 years ago so things may have changed since then).May you find your sister soon Helli.

It was all verified that the account name and sort code/acc no matched when I put th edteails in. I did start to doubt myself when he said it hadn't arrived, so was 'relieved' at least to hear from Tesco Bank that all the details were correct.
As I said, I've asked him to confirm with his bank also if its not showing, but he's now gone radio silent, and not returning any contact.

I would take it to a claims court. Yes it will cost you more money, but why should he get away with it scott free? he needs to be shown he can't get away with it.
For me it's the principle of the matter. I'd take it to court even if it meant spending more than the money owed!2 -

I did threaten a small claims court when I made a payment for postage on a large item that was on ebay but where I paid outside of ebay. Fotunately in that case I got some money back, but I knew the sellers real name and address. I wonder if that is available to the buyer in this case.
