We are presently on a 1 year fix with BG for our electricity. I have read online that you can take your fix with you. My question if I do that will I enjoy the same price per kw or does it change dependant on what area I move to.

The price will reflect the regional price for the tariff you are taking with you, so it could be higher or lower but it will still be the same tariff if BG agree to move it to your new home...

Some suppliers allow you to port your certain tariffs, but whether this applies to your particular one, we cannot tell you. And once you move in, you will be in a deemed contract with the existing supplier until you can complete a switch.
