Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Another scorcher in store, so that means another day of sloth! Too hot for tackling jobs (any excuse!!) I used to lap up the sun but don't cope with it well these days. Maybe ailments or maybe medication contribute,
but these extremes of temperature are too much for me.
My day of sensible eating after 3 days of gluttony went to plan yesterday, so a day of rinse and repeat. By tonight the fridge will be all but empty but I was lucky to get a delivery slot for tomorrow and normal service can resume.. I keep all bread stuff in the freezer (just getting out what I need) and even stocks of that are near rock bottom.
My BFF had her penultimate chemo yesterday and an early text from her told me she is off on the early train to Leeds to look at post surgery bras in M & S this morning! I can't believe how well she is keeping with it when it makes others feel so ill.
TAFF - my friend (the one with the poorly dog) was diagnosed with HF about 3/4 years ago and, thanks to medication, is no worse now than she was then. Of course she has to know her limitations and tackle life at a steadier pace, so slow down a bit young lady!!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and fed ups. ROSY enjoy the wedding and GERS enjoy the county show. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Good morning, it's not quite full daylight yet, but it seems to be a calm, quiet morning.
Yesterday was another hot day, we went for a walk in some woodland a short drive away. It was nice, plenty of shade and the sound of the stream rippling by. There were other people strolling about and kids playing in the stream, we enjoyed it.
I just pottered for the rest of of the day as did DH.
It'll probably be a similar day today.
Dp1, your Dgd is a little trooper, she just carries on despite her health problems. She's never known any other I suppose.
Hope everyone else is ok, thoughts to Taff, and others who aren't well or coping with life problems.
Take care folks.

Morning folks- thanks for starting us off Scarlet. Your woodland walk sounds soothing.Yesterday the dense fog soon burned away to give another glorious day. After the incessant rotten weather in May, June and July the sunshine is so good. My day whittled by nicely. At about 6.30pm a friend came round for a few drinks and chat. The sun was gone from the back garden so we set up two chairs and a wee table outside my front door in full sunshine, the house is south facing. Her husband appeared later, he'd been helping to set up the county show, and we sat until the sun disappeared over Jura, and then sat a bit longer just chatting and enjoying the wine. Whilst I'm away the front garden (a corner of a field) is being landscaped and a small triangle of decking put in so I won't have to sit next to the track to enjoy the evening sun.Today is the county show, first for two years, so I'll probably go up there. A shuttle bus is put on to take people up to it so it's not clogged by cars. Once again the weather looks to be fabulous so the show will be busy.I hope that everyone is doing well and keeping safe from the heat. Happy Saturday to all.8

Morning All
No sunshine this morning but it's mighty warm. I have the bedding in the machine, should be dry in no time. Must visit the allotment this morning to give it a good water. No doubt there will be more courgettes and peas - I have 2 big bags of peas in the freezer already, always good to have them later in the year. The green beans haven't done so well this year, lots of black spots on them so not sure what's gone wrong there. There are 2 cucumbers in the greenhouse ready to eat so salad is on the menu today.
I had an unexpected lunch out with friends yesterday which was lovely, lots of chat to catch up on. Managed to brave the heat when I got home to cut the grass.
Enjoy the show Gers.
Glad your friend is keeping well TA.
A walk in the woods sounds great Scarlet.
Right, off for more tea, have a good day. Take care. XX9 -
Morning all and thanks for the thread ScarletR x
Off to FC this morning but won't be staying as we're meeting DMum, DSis and BIL for brunch. We're then off to DS1s to help him with a garden project.
Gentle hugs to taff - I hope the medication helps. Can totally understand your worries xx
Enjoy the county show Gers
Have fun at the wedding Rosy
Have a good day all

Morning all, I never got back on after I posted yesterday, DS and the DGC arrived & we went for a walk down the brook, more of a trickle really atm but there's a part where it bends that is deeper and that's where they waded in, even DS. The kids got completely wet (they were still in their clothes
) - so it was showers all round and pondering what they could put on. DGD was ok as I found leggings and T shirt but DGS had to wear a pair of boxers I unearthed, size too small really
DS rinsed the clothes and hung them out. They decided to get the paint pens out and spent an hour lolling on the grass.
I missed your post yesterday Taff, I'm sorry you are worried and get some more info soon. I think the very words HF make you fear the worst so I'm not surprised it has a new name. I too have a friend recently diagnosed with this & AF but it seems to be under control with meds. Chin up girl & slow down a bit , though I know that gives you more time to think. Lots of hugs coming your way.Right, better get ready.Did my nails and practised doing my hair up last night. I'm glad I'm not the one wearing a wedding dress in this heat, I'm wearing a long dress though so will probably look like a 'melted welly' as they say in these partsThanks for all the good wishes, I'm looking forward to it.
Gers sounds like a lovely evening, surrounded by wonderful views.Take care, & lots of water xx

Morning all..slightly calmer today, meds are kicking in already maybe
thank you all for your words yesterday and today. I was having a bad moment now I'm OK to wait to see what can be done. I've watered the greenhouse this morning and I'll move the water butts in a minute, they're both totally empty, so I can re-jig in case of having to unblock the next time there's rain without getting completely soaked. My tomatoes have been rubbish this year, next year I'll put them outside. The three I put outside this year [couldn't bear to throw them away] have done really well, normally, it's the other way around. I have lunch with friends today out at one of our usual places [very very good pub food] and then an afternoon of sloth and napping I expect. I've been clearing the bookcase of things to go and have amassed a pile of books to give away so they can go to Tesco to their bookcase for free. Along with the soft plastic and a water filter. Any flat surface here seems to magnetise clutter to it within hours, so a lot of that is either going or finding a new home. No weight lost this week, but none put on either so not too bad.
Rosy, yes you're right, and thank you..have a good wedding, you're teaching me new phrases, melted welly ::snort:: and you too Izzy, I liked you being full of hell [I imagined Maureen O'Hara striding about the place]..I'm going to use those. NRA, thank you too. Repetition will lodge info in my head eventuallyGers, love to hear you sitting drinking watching the view. I wish I could, but I'd end up getting up to move a pot or soemthing silly. Need to take a leaf out of your book...TA, thank you. Hope your friend finds something suitable. From memory, they're not that great, online is better. But they are still expensive even with the VAT taken off [M&S will do it at the till] Camelot, my veg has been seriously disappointing this year, mostly down to lack of water I think. Next year, I might go full on heat loveing plants and try a melon or something..Take care folks, stay frosty....

Had planned to take little one to the big park with a picnic lunch but it wasn't nice enough for that so we went to soft play instead. It wasn't too busy so she had a good play and I had a very nice hot chocolate.
Gers thanks for the reply re Audible - you can still read book using the website but it's too complicated for dad. The app no longer works though - with the app I could just leave his book ready to play. I've a 10 inch kindle fire coming to try tomorrow so we'll try that.
Hope everyone has a good day - small child demanding attention!
