Hi. I use FreefileSync to backup my documents, images and music to an external hard drive.
The one thing that happens every time is that 'Compare' identifies many images etc. as needing to be updated on the external hard drive or copied to it, but I haven't accessed those files, or changed them in any way since the last sync.
When I hover over the file name in the left window, the date is often a month or so ago but sometimes the date is years ago. For example, I see that it wants to update a folder of music whose date is 15/10/2015, but I haven't accessed that folder on my laptop for years.
If I hover over the little icon in the 'Category' column for one of the music tracks in that folder, it says.
Left side is newer
<- 15/10/2015 19:34:18
>- 15/10/2015 18:36:18
So how come that tracks time has been altered since the last time it was synced to the external drive - and I've never been near it?
The Comparison setting used is 'File Time and Size'.
I have a fairly standard Win 10 laptop, using Windows Defender, Libre Office and no other odd programs.
Any advice welcomed.

Note the time is 1 hour out ....probably due to timezone setting just a guess though,oh and probably you wouldn't have used Win 10 then perhaps.

If you don't manage to solve the problem have a try of (free) allway sync1

Thanks guys. Well spotted, debitcardmayhem. I should have worked that out!
I've now had a further look at the 'Compare' settings and I can choose to ignore a time shift.
Here's an explanation if anyone is interested:
