British Gas fix or not

Sorry new to this part of the forum .. my partner received an emails today from BG offering us the option to fix - seemed quite high - are we better for the moment to stay in the variable tariff - obv we’re expecting a huge increase regardless.  I understand no one has a crystal ball and it’s a worrying time for us all.  Was just seeking other opinions before we decide.

Thank you

Post the details of what you've been offered and your annual usage in kWh and someone with better brains than me will do the maths.

On what basis are we supposed to give you any advice?

You need to give the relevant data as usage the last 12 months and the unit rates offered to you.

are you already on a fix? If so, when does it end?
  • I’ve just joined!  I have a business and have just realised my energy supplier for electricity  has estimated our bills with a decimal point making it a 7 figure reading when our meter only has 6 numbers!
I reported it to them, have asked them to amend invoices to date, their excuse was I was giving reading to them on wrong dates - really stupid excuse.  I did remind them my meter only has 6 number therefore  they are overcharging me in estimated consumption and price. I’ve asked them to amend my invoices to date showing accurate readings and price - my request is being ignored.   Can anyone recommend an online calculator for me to use and work out exact usage and total price to pay? They have refunded a large amount but I feel I’m owed more.

You don't need an online calculator - a regular one will do. I would use a mid 80s solar powered Casio.

Multiply your usage and unit cost and then add on your standing charge (days x daily charge).  If you've had tariff changes, you'll need to break it down into periods.

@YellowFoxy I too have just received an outrageous fix offer from BG.

I am sticking with the SVT. BG have actually been fair in setting the monthly DD but I have been providing them with regular meter readings.

@YellowFoxy Hundreds of people are asking the same question as you without giving any details and many of us are trying to stay polite, repeating over and over, please post full details.

This bloody hot weather is enough to frazzle anyone's patience after a while. Pochase is really lovely and  very helpful. If people would read a few other threads before posting they would most likely realise what details are needed.
