I have been cutting my own hair since I bought a pair of hair clippers for £25 about 12 years ago.   I do not give myself an extra short haircut so each haircut requires more than a quick run over with the clippers.  I have even devised a way of getting a neat straight hairline at the back of my neck, so I reckon the haircuts are as good as most barbers would do, even if I say so myself. So @ £8 a time that works out at 12x6x8-25= £551 saved.
Please do share your technique as I frequently struggle with this.

  • Well if there is one skill that would save a packet it is being a SAHP. Nursery fees are like a second mortgage with more than one child.

So much to read, so little time.

I saved thousands by drawing my own extension/build-over agreement plans.

At the moment I’m saving £100 by letting my husband clean the chimney but it’ll take me all day to clean up.
I must admit that a chimney sweep is one I'll pay for. They have a camera and ours confirmed that the flue had at least 5 more years. The certificate is worth it as many if not all insurers insist on one.

And on that score, I have saved an absolute fortune by not having children. If I have need of one, I can borrow a friends offspring for the day and return it before bedtime.

Ah, but think of all the benefits you're missing out on.  Smelly nappies, disturbed sleep, temper tantrums, moody teenagers, arguments, constant requests for money, being an unpaid taxi service ..... oh, hang on ...... :-)

Being able to go on holiday when I want to, and to places that I like. Spending money on adult toys tools, sports cars, bikes, etc. Never having to worry about stepping on lego in the middle of the night...

Don’t have a flue,  large open fire.  He actually did not a bad job this time, I’ll use him again next year.

The ability to use a computer and research things on t'internet. Must have saved me thousands.
Realised what a useful skill it is when teaching people without such knowledge how to use laptops, tablets etc.
