Russell Hobbs not honouring warranty

Hi - I bought a fridge from Russell Hobbs in May 2021 and took out their extra free one year warranty giving me a 2 yaer warranty.
It was faulty and had to be replaced in July 2021.
This second fridge is now also faulty - they inform me that the warranty follows the original purchase so ended in May 2022.
I argue that the extended warranty should also follow that rule but they are only offereing a 50% refund of the cost of the fridge because it is 'out of warranty'.
Is it worth me argueing the point with Russell Hobbs?
Thanks

They're correct and have honoured the warranty. It doesn't reset into a new warranty.
50% is a great offer - bite their hand off.3 -
You've got a choice. Accept their offer, which is effectively one made out of goodwill, or exercise your consumer rights against RH. The second option will involve you getting the replacement unit inspected, and if it's shown to be inherently faulty than you can insist that RH, as the retailer, repair it, replace it or refund you. Their choice. They can reduce any refund to reflect the year's use you've had of the new unit. You would be entitled to more than the 50% they're offering but would have to jump through those hoops to get it. How much was it, because if it was a fairly cheap fridge, the extra percentage you should win might be minimal, so the offer you have may be the best one.
Their stance on the warranty not renewing with the replacement unit is correct if that's what the warranty terms were.0 -
OP appears to be saying the warranty was until May 2023 as it was extended by a year but Hobbs are basically saying OP lost the extension for some reason. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

It all depends on the exact wording of these warranties.
It is only the OP's opinion that they had a 2 year warranty.
However RH say the original purchase had a 1 year warranty. This was followed by another warranty for the following year. Not quite the same.
What were the terms of that second warranty? It was not very expensive so you shouldn't expect too much. As an example, insurance cover extensions are often conditional on there being no outstanding claims.0 -
Can you confirm the date of purchase was May 21 and not May20.
1 Do you have proof of your extended guarantee?
The 1 year extended warranty is not mentioned but for other extended warranties it does say is an appliance is replaced the new appliance will get eh balance left of the extended warranty.

Any extended warranty offer I've had in the past few years requires that you register the purchase with the manufacturer at the time of purchase. Did the OP do that?
