The pension scheme I used to work for would often ask pensioners to regularly supply proof they were still alive (else we'd stop their pension payments).  The process was to ask them to take some picture ID to some authorised individual along with a form we provided and get them to witness that the pensioner was alive.

The people we would accept would be police, doctors, bank managers, solicitors, notary publics, teachers and generally anyone of a professional standing who we could track usually via google.  But we were in the UK and the pensioners anywhere around the world.

As others have said - ask them who they will accept.  And ask them if they will pay the fee for a solicitor.  I had to get a solicitor to ID me for a foreign bank account and the cost a couple of years back was about £120.

a quick google turned up this (not a recommendation as I know nothing about this company)

Did she say a local solicitor would definitely be ok or are you just assuming that?
What do you mean by 'presumably"?
There is no point going to a solicitor - and paying for it - unless you are 100% sure that it will be acceptable proof.
I would also want to know what wording will be acceptable.
It's not a question that anybody on here can answer.
You seem to be making this harder than it should be - you need to speak to 'her'.

The solicitor obviously wants a another solicitor  to see me in person to verify who I am and write a letter to say I am alive. Or go to the Embassy in London.
I am not going to the Embassy in London .
    I don’t like solicitors ( sharks ) .
Thank for your comments and help, I will ignore the letter.
    I don’t need the stress.

Presumably from what you said/didn't say, you are from a country which may not want you to be alive & do you have a right (or struggling to have the right) to be in the UK?  I am sure you can find a solicitor that is capable/used to dealing with this situation, you really can't be the only one.  If the inheritance is £1000 then maybe walk away for self preservation, but if it is £100,000 then the right solicitor could be a
    serious help.

Little bit of a stretch, do you not think?

This is quite a basic request for a solicitor. Yes there will be a charge, but it won't be enormous. The time to prepare the letter, meet with you, check your ID, sign the letter and stamp it, does not come for free.
Is it London or the Embassy that concerns you. Wondering if there is a more local branch of the London Embassy. I know this is the case for some nationalities.

Are you for real? If you really don’t want the inheritance you could at least have the decency to write back and tell them.

There may be other options - this list is specifically for signing a French document, but may be acceptable if your uncle's solicitors send a document for them to stamp/sign.   https://uk.ambafrance.org/The-life-certificate-attestation-d-existence

She said I could go to the Embassy ( in London) with a current passport in person or presumably a solicitor locally, it’s to do with inheritance as uncle had no children.
Not keen on seeing a solicitor .
So perhaps no option expect to say sorry I am dead .
Are you sure she said 'presumably a solicitor locally' this just seems really odd language for a legal representative to use. You can either use a local solicitor or not, there's no 'presumably' about it.

You don't want to go to the Embassy, so don't.

You don't want to see a solicitor for whatever reason, so don't (I'm not even sure this is an option).

The only other 2 options are you contact them and say you are unable to go to the Embassy, what other route can you take (I wouldn't even mention the solicitor) OR you contact and say as you are not going to the Embassy you understand you are wavering your right to the inheritance.  You could ignore, but they will just write again. If it is upsetting / worrying /stressing you (as you say it is) just close the matter down.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

You mean a Consulate - most major cities will have one for many nationalities.

The advice to the OP is still the same - Ask the person requesting proof exactly what proof they need.  Then decide if you can/will provide it.  If you are unable or unwilling to talk to a solicitor or visit the Embassy/Consulate then tell them "no"
I need to think of something new here...
