New Gas Boiler

Further to my recent posts re. dead boiler
what would be the best one to to fit?
Some say Vailant,some say Worcester,
and when I google it there is a myriad of suitable models.Seeing the BG guy soon, but would rather go with a local indy so really need some advice. Either just a replacement heat only one or a more expensive combi.Any suggestions please.

Assuming you mean a "regular" boiler because you have a hot water tank then worcester are as good as any in my opinion.
If you're going Combi i'd avoid worcester and go Vailant or Atag but it depends on the sizing you need as to what's the right option for you.
Typically go for the best sized one with the best warranty.

Goodness. This is like asking what’s the best car, everyone will have a different opinion, many plumbers I’ve spoken with don’t rate WB , others do, I have a viessman and would probably go with that make again, I’ve had it thirteen years with only a couple of problems, I’d suggest, as others have said, go with a local guy, make sure though it has a long warranty, better still if both parts and labour are covered, the only problem we found was actually getting the guy who installed ours back to do routine servicing, it wasn’t that he wasn’t interested, he was sooo busy he had a job to fit us in, when he did come, he was always very efficient and professional and did the job, if you go for a one man band plumber, bear this in mind
  • Thanks 4 all the advice, Guys. I realise that BG is more expensive but getting a reliable local can be a nightmare. Obviously, BG will push those boilers with the largest mark up, having said all they were the cheapest when I had my own done 30 years ago - still going strong. Will see what they say next week then get other quotes.
