Heat a Single Room Gas vs Electric

If you are looking into using any electric heating you might also consider a butane gas oven.
We got one with two bottles of gas just as a backup should there be black-outs or any form of rationing this winter.
More expensive than gas, but considerable cheaper than electricity. Of course there is a substantial initial cost involved.
13kg of Butane give you 178Kwh and currently a refill is £42. That is 23.6p per KWh.

OP, if you have an open fireplace in the lounge it might be worthwhile considering buying and inserting a Jetmaster type fire and burning kiln dried or if unavailable well air dried logs. This is a lovely way of keeping warm cost-effectively.
In another house we use an oil filled electric radiator in our lounge which warms up quickly and keeps us pleasantly warm for minimal cost and saves us warming the whole house and the costs of maintaining a gas central heating system.
Good luck0
