Should I switch from Scottish Power to EON?

I'm with Scottish power on the variable rate. Everything I've read says there are no Scottish Power fixes
Should I move to EON and see if I can get the E.On Next Online v18?
Even if I miss it, I guess I won't be worse off?

Eon will not accept new customers on their SVT, or did you get approval from them to join them?0

They aren't taking any new customers? Okay. That's sad.
So I have no good options then as I'm with Scottish Power?0 -
No you don't.
Only two suppliers who MIGHT accept you on SVT are Octopus and EDF, and you need to call them, maybe several times until you find an agent who will accept you as a new customer.

Have you checked your online account with Scottish Power?. We are with them and although we are currently on a fix, when I go into the section for changing tariff, it shows me 4 fixed tariffs that we could switch to.

Is there any way I can get a fix?0 -
Okay, finally found more details. The terms make it sound like some of it is fixed and some not, so I'm not sure if it is fixed. Here's the numbers:

I managed to get through to customer services and it's 85% fixed, with up to 15% changing.
It's about a 26% increase on my current payment.
Seems I'd be mad not to take a 26% increase to lock in 85% fixed for a year?0 -
This looks good to me. We currently expect the single rate to be more expensive (52p) than the day rate you have been offered.
Also they cannot just change / increase whenever they want. A lot of it is based on decisions for example by Ofgem.
You can find more information what can increase and who decides here
