Travel insurance that covers cost of hotel if flight is cancelled?

Hi all,
I'm off to Sardinia next month and with all the recent airline strikes I'm worried about my flight being cancelled.
I assumed regular travel insurance is all I need but after doing some digging it seems hardly any travel insurance policies cover the cost of the hotel in the event the flight is cancelled. Does this type of insurance exist? I'm in a quandary because the only place that seems to offer this insurance is the hotel themselves but it's quite expensive (£140) and the document is dense and confusing! Our trip is on the 18th Sept but Booking.com are due to take the money on 18th August and after that point we can't get a refund on the hotel.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

At present, I will only book hotels which allow me to pay slightly more but have cancellation up to the day of departure.tkerby91 said:Hi all,

I don’t think any insurance like this would be any cheaper than the hotel is selling. If your flights were cancelled could you not get other flights?0

Flights to Sardinia seem to be relatively infrequent. So we'd probably miss a day and have to book the next day if so0 -
That's a smart move. We're going for a wedding and guests are staying in particular hotels so we didn't have free reign unfortunatelykatejo said:
