One year bond - ideally around 2.5% + - with no requirement to produce a driving license or passport

My Dad is 93.  His passport and DL have expired and he has no wish to replace them.   I have looked online at a few bonds but they (understandably) want ID.  He is a homewner and tax and bill payer so has proof of address and who he is.   I am abroad so this makes matters more complex.  He has a smart phone.   Thanks so much for any information or thoughts.

The chances are that he can be verified electronically for most accounts and won't need additional ID. I've recently taken out 1year bonds with Zopa, who verified me electronically, Coventry Building Soc, who I already had an account with, but had been verified electronically for that. I've opened many other accounts in the last few years, and not one has asked for additional ID.

Pick the bond of your choice and see what happens. even the ones that say they need ID may not do in your father's case

Same for me, but it seems to be coming more prevalent.

OP- Your Dad could just try opening an account and see what happens. As said there is a good chance that the provider will just check some details in the background, like the electoral roll ( is he on that ?) and that will be it. If they ask for extra ID and he does not provide it , the application will just lapse.

Many banks use the electronic ID process but that can fail.  Where it fails, it will revert to the old manual method.
