Empathy funeral plan

Hi all

My grandmother has a prepaid funeral plan with Empathy and they have advised that she can’t get a refund as the trustees have temporarily suspended refunds. She has had the policy about a year I believe. They have said they are looking at options for transferring the policy to an FCA approved provider but I am worried she will lose her money. Does anyone know if there is anything we can do about this or do we just need to wait and see? Thanks

How did she pay for it? Cash, credit card, ...?

  • Hi Leannerallen
Have you had any communication with O'Haras LTD who were the Insolvency Practioners? I also had a plan and have still not had my money back. Apparently O'Haras were going to court October 2023 to find out the final outcome of distribution of money. I have heard nothing back from them. I had been in contact via telephone with the company but now when I call the telephone number is out of service. Jeremy Bennett is the Director of the company & seems like he has Issues which I found out via google.

Have you seen the progress report from November last year?

That says at 3.4 that plan holders are expected to receive 4p in the pound. So, for example, a £5000 plan will only pay out about £200.

Did I read that correctly? Obviously very concerning for plan holders.
