Last July I wanted to do something in memory of my mum and booked A spa day in Cardiff Mercure Hotel and spa. We parked in the underground car park and had a lovely day. When leaving the lady behind the counter said put your number plate onto the tv sat screen on the counter and then she said that’s £5 please, we paid and left.A month later I had a fine for not paying the right amount £5.20!!The option was to pay or appeal so I appealed to Popla. In the meantime I phoned the Hotel and they said don’t worry we will cancel it as you paid for your parking.I then had a letter and Popla refused my appeal…I couldn’t believe it and phoned the Hotel again, this is now October and they emailed parking eye …this is cancelled. I thought that was the end…but in February again another letter saying I have to pay the fine,again I phoned the hotel who assured me it was cancelled.July another letter saying to pay …again I phoned the hotel .
In the last four weeks I have had 2 letters from Debt collection agency and I have now written to Parkingeye with copies of the emails saying the charge is cancelled.Also yesterday I went to the Hotel spa and spoke to receptionist who told me they had a problem with the system last year as it was a new system and they did have a few problems with parking charges …I have spoken to the now Hotel Manager and originally he said I had entered wrong information and must have put the time in wrong and basically trying to get the parking cheaper but i explained I didn’t put a time in I didn’t have to the lady said it was £5 and that is what was paid if they said £5.20 I would have paid that it took the money automatically off the card all we done was put number plate in …
I have now sent copies the emails to Parking eye in the post asking why am I still being fined it was cancelled..
bit unsure what else to do ? I was expecting a call from Hotel manager today but he didn’t ring in fact he just emailed me and said I will have to take it up with parking eye …
any suggestions please

You need to read the newbies and learn what might happen, but if it is just debt collectors you can ignore them. Do not ignore a  Letter of claim/Letter before Claim. I understand that you have copies of emails from the hotel saying it was cancelled, so keep those safe. Do not speak to Parking Eye or debt collectors on the phone.

I have sent paperwork so should I stop sending to Parkingeye and yes I have emails saying it was cancelled

email then to: enforcement@parkingeye.co.uk. 

Send them copies of all the documents you have from the hotel confirming their agreement that this should be cancelled.
