Direct Debit Hike
British Gas tried to up my DD for Electricity by £60pm, when I am on a fixed rate till March and have a long history of very stable consumption. I just moved to this rate and have worked out the rise should only have been £13pm. When on the phone to sort it out (online system won't let you make the payment smaller than the recommended amount), the guy admitted their system doesn't take the governments £400 from October into account. If this is the case they are going to be raking in millions in over payments !!!

I don't blame them, because if they have to credit every monthly bill by £66 before they get the subsidy back from the gov't, it's going to knock a huge hole in their cashflow over the winter. No free lunch, and no free laptop
