Politicians should tell us what their energy arrangement are

Don't forget you can be on prepaid either on SVT or on fixed tariff. It is not just "prepaid".0

I suspect that most (if not all) MPs have no idea about their energy suppliers /tariffs - they have "people" who deal with such mundane matters especially with regard to 2nd/3rd homes etc0

I'm actually more concerned that the help has come a little too early. Lots of people I know (from all walks of life) aren't feeling the pinch just yet, some know it's going to get difficult others don't.pearl123 said:Politicions should do something now to help people with escalating energy prices. The first COL payment came just in time for the summer holidays, the second due round about Christmas time, how many struggling people are actually going to put that extra money to their electric bill and not entertaining the children because they just haven't had to react just yet?
Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
Make £2024 in 2024...3 -
There's also the fact that there are plenty of people that don't actually need the 6x~£66 payments - I get that there's a balance between means testing and speed of delivery, but I for one think certain charities could mobilise to offer a route to donate it (with gift aid of course). In the absence of that, mine will be going to the local Trussell Trust food bank, but there's definitely an opportunity for some more organised redistribution that could otherwise be missed.annabanana82 said:

As it is politicians who are largely responsible for the mess we are in, I assume you mean you would like this information so that you can do the opposite.What_time_is_it said:I'd like to see politicians have to register their energy payment arrangements in the same way as they have to disclose their tax affairs and outside incomes.
Just basic level info would do - e.g. "SVR", or "prepayment" or "fixed deal taken at xx/xx/xx, expiring xx/xx/xx".
Then when they talk about the energy crisis on tv a caption could appear on the screen to inform the viewer what they themselves have decided to do.1 -
This is Geo politics. Our parliament full of clowns have ZERO ability to alter the fact that we are Net Importers now, Russia is playing silly beggars, but they are Net Exporters. and - FOSSIL FUELS ARE RUNNING OUT. Folks need to get used to this. Ain’t going back to the cheap comparison websites.spot1034 said:
