Based on SC staying the same at average £170 for electric and £100 for gas.1 -
Using less is still going to cost, that's the problem. In July I used 181 units of electricity (77 less that same time last year) and 7 units of gas (4 less than last year) and the bill still hit £86, so say a 60% increase would mean a bill of £137. My highest bill in winter was February's at £108 and that was using half the gas I used at that period last year and that was with wearing a coat indoors every day etc. Just a 60% increase on that means the bill hits £172, and that's all with just a mere 60% increase.0

I am now scared. Benefit level fixed income - disabled over 60 (no work req) with responsibility for young child. Been raising DD - now up to £200 month with low cost fix coming to end 20 October. Use minimum we can eg 2KWH (gas and elec) yesterday and dont know where else to raid bill wise to up dd more. I know child will be at school so can keep warm there but what if schools cant afford to stay open? I know heat the person but minimum temp we have is 16C and for safety of humans and house dont go lower. Really really dont know.1

I’ve just fixed with eon next due to todays headline. My rate on typical averageuse (which my own is currently less currently less) is 3650 over the year slightly above the revised October prediction. Decided to take the hit for a couple months on electric as we won’t use gas until October to prevent the swings next year. Hopefully if those predictions are correct and level off it’ll be the same come renewal (doubt it though).MattMattMattUK said:
