Do they ever answer the phone? My wife tried to use the app on a new phone yesterday afternoon and ended up with her account locked. Spent half an hour on the phone on hold with no indication when it would be answered, followed by half an hour so far now. Tried live chat, but they said they couldn't help with security issues. Lucky nobody is emptying her account!
I have been with several other banks and security calls are answered within a couple of mins.

Virgin can quite often take 2 hours to answer the phone. I've found they answer the phone lines at their quickest as soon as their lines open, sometimes even instantly. The only issue with that is that their departments operate at slightly different times to each other so if you are told you will need to speak to a different department you will most likely be given a different number to ring and be told to ring that. I had a payment blocked in March and went through 4 or 5 different numbers before getting it unblocked.
I've found their live chat is only useful for finding out which number you should ring. Anything else and they're as much use as a glass hammer.2 -
I have given up on Virgin Money, when everything goes well 99% of the time, but when you do need them be prepared for endless coffees and an unlimited phone sim and even then they may say call this number instead 😜1
