Vacumming deep pile carpet?

I've got a new carpet. The carpet is Victoria First Impressions.
The pile height of the carpet is 12mm so its rather deep pile. So when vacumming, I put the vacuum cleaner on the highest height setting. However, when I vacuumed the carpet recently, after I noticed that a carpet fibre was sticking out the surface of the carpet. Also, the vacuum isn't easy to push across the carpet and seems to sink into the carpet.
For cleaning deep pile carpets, is it best to use an attachment tool such as a brush instead of the main vacuum as this is less likely to pull the carpet? The only alternative I can think of would be using a handheld vacuum, but I'm not sure if that would be suitable.

The high suction power and beater bars/brushes can be a bit brutal on deep pile carpets. Can you reduce the suction power on your vacuum? Does it have a hard floor setting where the brushes don't rotate? I only use a medium power on my newish carpet and I'm still picking up lots of loose fibres, but it's not dragging the pile. If you have one or two fibres that stick out, hopefully they are just stray loose ones that can be snipped off.
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
What vac are you using?
This one Sebo Felix has good reviewshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V994F9kZ6b0
I am waiting for the Sebo Felix pet to go back below £300 to buy one.
One fibre is possibly just loose to begin with, if it keeps happening then I can see it will be annoying.
A hoover with no rotating brush head would be one way to go.0 -
You get all sorts of bits coming out of a new carpet, it should settle down fairly soon. As said above, if it's hard to push around reduce the suction.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

There are 5 settings for adjusting for different floor types. Although I'm not sure if any of them set it so the brushes don't rotate.

Have you tried position 5 - Luxury carpet & tool mode ? Not sure if that turns the brush off, it looks like a basic belt driven device so switching the beater off may not be an option.
