Parcelforce Claim offer .

Has anyone had any experience with the Parcelforce claims process.
I sold a £200 guitar on ebay , it was sent in a hard case as per the terms and condition and boxed , but when it arrived it some how suffered a crack in the neck . It was insured for £100 which was included with the standard costs , I submitted a claim which they approved but came back with a £40 offer .
"We have made an offer against your claim. Once you've accepted an offer of settlement, we'll transfer your reimbursement via your preferred method of payment."
The guitar will cost more than £40 to repair and even once it has been done it wont be worth the anywhere near the £200 it originally sold for .
There is an reject offer button on the page but not too sure if this will just close the claim , I contacted parcelforce live help and was told to email their claims department ( over a week ago ) but have had no response .
Any help would be appreciated .

Are they treating this as under insured and reducing the pay out in proportion?homi said:Has anyone had any experience with the Parcelforce claims process.

I know it doesn't quite add up but the concept with most insurance is that if you insure something for less than its full value they will reduce any pay out to reflect this.
So, it sold for £200. However it was only insured for £100. Had it been totally lost or destroyed they would only pay you £50 and not the £100 it was insured for as it was only insured for half its true value.2 -
The insurance thing is based on the premium and you not providing the correct details, so if you fail to declare something that would have increased your insurance premium by 10% the pay out can be 90% of the value of the claim.Undervalued said:

Most noticeably the OP hasn't purchased any insurance.
The booking flow asks for the value of the goods and then advises you have "protection" (against loss and damage) for £100 and asks if you'd like to pay an extra fee to cover for the full amount. This protection isn't classed as insurance.
OP you can ask them why they deem £40 to be appropriate, it's probably because they feel that amount represents the damage but their offer is likely to be low and you should request they review and pay an appropriate amount within the cover limit.

thanks for the comments , make sense and lesson learnt .
Will do as advised and drop them a message to ask how the came up with the £40 considering the item is near enough a total loss considering the neck is hanging off .
Still cant my head around how they were able to break the neck of a guitar ( snapped right off ) which was in a hard case and an the packed into another box with bubble wrap .
thanks again0 -
Are you absolutely certain that it was damaged in transit and not by the recepient after they'd unpacked it and they are now trying to say it was damaged when it arrived? Like you I can't see how such damage could occur in transit.homi said:

How much could it move in the case? Big shock & neck moving could be enough, but would expect some damage to the outer package. If this was not reported to you when it arrived. Which then points to the above post...homi said:thanks for the comments , make sense and lesson learnt .
