Survey plus valuation or just survey

Hello all,
Just looking for thoughts on surveys. I am requesting a level 2 survey. For an additional £150 they add on a valuation.
I am probably overpaying but not by much. I don't need a valuation to obtain finances.
Has anyone been in this situation?
Are there benefits to a valuation I am not thinking of?
Thank you for your thoughts.

We are cash buyer and just had a survey without valuation done. We are paying over asking to secure the property (there were some other cash buyers) but we are happy with the amount we are going to pay, we are not looking to renegotiate the price just because some valuation comes lower, so we didn’t pay for an additional valuation from the surveyor.
I suppose if you want to know what they think it’s worth you can pay for it. Some surveyors have valuation included in their standard survey so not an option to opt out. But to us at the end of the day the property is worth how much someone (in this case, us) is willing to pay for it, and in the far future when we sell it will be very different anyway.1 -
Exactly my thinking, but wanted to check it out with other thoughts in case I was missing something obvious. I will skip the valuation and divert that £150 to removal costs! Thank you for sharing your experience.donutandbeer said:We are cash buyer and just had a survey without valuation done.
