Delay tactics by trader and online platform

I need help!!!!!

2 months ago we organised for a trader through a company called checkatrade to transform our bathroom. We have had none stop issues since then which resulted in us having to put a claim through checkatrade due to poor workmanship.

The tradesman was refusing to help, attempted to gain access to our property whilst i was in by myself (police notified but nothing they could do)

checkatrade begrudgingly sent a surveyor out to assess the issues and we were awarded £876 to fix the issues, however they are now using delay tactics.

we were told 2 weeks ago we’d hear back within 48 hours about when we will be paid. Then Tuesday just gone we were told the same again 48 hours and they will contact us. Every email we have sent has been ignored.

with all the evidence we have can we take both checkatrade and the tradesman to small claims?

+ ask for compensation as my partner who was diagnosed/ treated for PTSD after serving time in the military is now having to go back into therapy because of the stress this has caused him.

You can take whichever party you like to small claims court, but you need to decide which party is liable, and send them a letter before action as a last chance to put matters right.

Nothing stopping you asking for compensation, but unless you can provide a quantified loss that is stated to be medically linked to the situation, it will be a non-starter.
