Are Mobile Banking Apps as safe as banking via a PC browser?

    I use banking apps on my phone only when I am at home. I connect using my home's wifi rather than using phone data because I'm on ancient PAYG with no data plan.  

    Is using the banking apps this way, via wifi more secure than using a bank's website, or no better because I'm still using my wifi router rather than cellular connection?

    You are in control of your wifi, so using that is fine, risk is minimal.
