@Wyndham I'm interested to know whether you specified you have COVID and asked for a doorstep delivery?
Yes, we did. There was a tick box. Why do you ask?
Because Sainsburys presumably would understand that unlike other delivery customers, without an order you would be left with no physical options to shop. It is very poor form to cancel without offering an alternative under such circumstances; in practice people will just go ou5 and spread the virus without any consideration of others. Mind you that's what the government seems to want in its "living with COVID" strategy.

As others have said, you've been unlucky, but I would never book a delivery for the day when you've actually run out of food - always book it a day earlier so that you have something to tide you over if it goes wrong.

Well - we were in a 'needs must' situation. We'd had covid for days, and were basically waiting for one or other of us to test negative (which has now happened for both of us). And we were not completely out of food, of course we weren't, but were short of fresh things like bread and milk. Your post does feel rather judgemental. We were in a new world, due to exceptional circumstances, and trying to navigate it. I really don't need you to critique my lifestyle.

My original question was asked as I wanted to understand if my experience was typical or not, and it seems not. So thank you for all the replies, it's good to know. But I think we will continue to go to the supermarket rather than do delivery.

It sounds like a badly organised store rather than typical of Sainsburys in general. It's a shame it should be your first experience of delivery when by and large it seems to be a very satisfactory way of shopping.

Your post does feel rather defensive.  I was simply trying to offer some advice as, although your experience was unusual, it's certainly not unheard of.  I really don't need you to critique my writing style.

Apparently you only have to isolate yourself for 5 days now. After that you don’t even need to test yourself to go out. My 6 year old granddaughter had COVID in July and that was what the school told her.

Which is exactly why it continues to spread and mutate.

I totally agree. I was surprised when I was told. My grocery delivery driver also told me that his mother works for the NHS and they have been told 7 days and no test after too.

Just unlucky. Ocado is the best, turns up on time even with snow. ASDA very friendly staff. Waitrose give you short-dated stuff free of charge if that's all they have. Iceland availability is good and cheery staff. Morrisons doesn't seem to regard other products by same brand as a sub. Tesco can be stroppy.

My bro and works for NHS, He has to do a daily LFT test and wear a mask at all times in the hospital. Not all hospitals do this and patients have been picking up Covid from outpatirnt and A& E visits.
