Windows explorer...so many settings. take 5 mins to find 1 file???

Hi All,
i hope expert people out there can help. i am in misery with my Windows Explorer. When i open it , i see the left pane (if that's what you call it) with files & folders etc, On the right i see files but in another window/pane and there is 1 more after that which shows only 1 file at once. Then i have to click on View and select view/details. then i have to extend the top tabs of the bar of files, date, file type etc. so if the file name is qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq.....it will only show qqqqqqqq at the moment. so i have to extend all the tabs. the worst bit is, its different in all folders and files.
Is there no way i can i have simple way : just top menu, middle menu below that, and only 2 panes, left and right. thats all. can i get rid of clicking on details of going to view tab and selecting detils // view, then increasing the tab sizes of the files, file type & date & modified.
