British Gas

Anybody else having trouble with British Gas while they are moving to a new billing system. I don't remember being told about this as a customer.
I cannot see my bills or statements online, British Gas tell me I should be able to see these after 14/08/22, but worried as I don't if I am in credit or debit

Yep, I'm in the same situation. My gas account has been migrated across to the new system, I can see my recent bill but I cannot enter any meter readings. Electricity hasn't moved across yet and I've not had a bill appear there for over three months.
  • I'm in the same situation. My July gas and electricity bills both show final meter readings. They show different readings from the ones I actually submitted in July and a different date. The British Gas website will not allow me to submit further readings. This situation is totally confusing. I hope British Gas sorts this out soon. Fortunately I record all of my actual readings to keep track of what is happening.

Meh! I received my final bill from them in January when I moved out of my rental. I submitted correct meter readings that were used to generate the final bill, which I paid promptly.

Yesterday, almost 6 months after the fact, I received a 'replacement' final bill from British gas using estimated readings. Apparently I owe them £248. I don't think so BG!

I had a nice online chat with one of their agents yesterday who has assured me that a second 'replacement final bill' will turn up in 3-5 days showing a zero balance. Let's hope so.

For the avoidance of doubt, I still have the original final bill from January, showing the submitted readings. Landlord and I both took photos of the meters on move out day so I have cast iron evidence.

If you want to know if you're in credit or not, read your meter and work it out.

But yes, British Gas can be quite slow in transferring you across systems, although it does work out in the end.

I never realised how stupid British Gas are . I booked a boiler service for a £29 deal did it online and had the guy come out the next day service fine but wondered why the money had not been taken from my bank. I rang up and was told it would be £49 after trying to tell the woman about the deal  I had was put through  to a guy who sorted it but was having to pay over 12 months£4.12 the £2.28 for 11months .How stupid any way I thought thats ok all done For my £29 but they are gaining 20p you now these energy companies are hard up.
Well in the post this morning arrives another letter saying I have to now pay £90 DD increase to £7.88 they keep calling it homecare but it was just a one off boiler service.

Notice how these happen at a weekend when you have to wait until Monday and online chat is no good.

Well I know I will not get another service from bg

I think you need to double check exactly what you agreed to with BG and make sure that they agree - otherwise this will drag on. Are you sure you haven't inadvertently signed up to some some intoductory offer to their ongoing Homecare agreement which starts witha boiler service ?

£29 for a boiler service is ridiculously cheap.

Update re my £29 boiler service rang British Gas and spoke to a guy that was english and he sorted it got the dd cancelled and the £4.12 that was taken off the £29 which left £24.88 that he let me pay on my bank card .
I went into my online banking and also cancelled the dd taking no chances will not be using them next year for my service.
Hope no one else has the bother that I had with their £29 service :)
