Should I switch? New home

So I don't have a provider to move from, however I do have British Gas for both electricity and gas at my current place

Their quote for moving home is £273.73/month on a standard variable tariff

Co Op have a tariff that's £350/month on a fixed tariff for 12 months. Would it then be worth me just moving to Co Op given the price increase in October? Or would it better to wait it out?

If you're on the SVT then pretty pointless to move and that's assuming you can even switch as most suppliers are not accepting new customers
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Is that even with the new price cap increase in October? Co Op is 28% more expensive than British Gas but the price cap means it could increase way more than 28% in October?

Also they are accepting new customers tbf

    Co-op is Octopus in disguise.
I have just run a quote through them
electricity Unit rate 62.0025p per kWh, Standing charge 49.3815p per day

Gas Unit rate 18.3015p per kWh,  Standing charge 27.216p

    Doesn't strike me as cheap.
You need to get quotes from both BG & Co-op (& Octopus in case cheaper direct) using the same usage figures for direct comparison,

Is this a new build house or is it an existing house but "new to you" that will have an existing supplier(s)?

The rates that Co-op quoted me are above those projected for the SVT change from the Cornwall Insight latest figures.

New to me. I realised that the figure on the Co Op energy site didn't quite match British gas, so I've just signed up at British gas

If it;s "new to you" there will have been existing supplier(s). Do you know who that was & did you give them readings when you took over the house?

That £273 SVT is likely to hit £475 come October if you actually use their example amounts.

It was British Gas they were with so I've signed up with them

Whether it's a new build, or just a home move, there is still an existing supplier, with whom you are in a deemed contract. In this case, BG.
