Amazon asking me to wait 60 days for a refund for a return over a month ago and shows delivered

Options
How can they possibly justify asking people to wait 60 days for a refund when tracking shows its been in there warehouse for a month? There customer service is terrible. Half the reps replies on chat show they've not even looked into anything they've click clicked copy and paste a generic response.

This quote at the end of the email gets me "helping us build Earth's Most Customer-Centric Company" Yes telling them to wait 60 days is real customer-centric. And their maths is wrong too. 8th September is 66 day after the return date. 66 days for a refund!

Here is there email.

Hello,

Once the carrier has received your return package, it can take a while to arrive at our returns center. In most situations, returns are processed by Amazon in 14 days. In some situations, it may take longer. If you haven't been issued a refund after 14 days, we ask that you wait until    8 sep 2022:60 DAYS FROM RETURN DATE for us to investigate what happened to your return.

If you don't hear from our returns center by 8 sep 2022: 60 DAYS FROM RETURN DATE  please write back so we can find out what happened.

We'd appreciate your feedback. Please use the buttons below to vote about your experience today.

Their maths may be wrong (I suspect it isn't, Amazon didn't get to the dominant position they occupy by being bad at arithmetic) but you haven't actually understood their email.

"In most situations, returns are processed by Amazon in 14 days. In some situations, it may take longer. If you haven't been issued a refund after 14 days, we ask that you wait..."

Yours is clearly one of the "some situations" mentioned.

With millions of parcels going back and forth, it's inevitable that a few end up in the wrong place or get lost.  It's unfortunate, but if you don't like the way they operate, shop elsewhere.  It's not as if they have a monopoly....yet.

Always found that refund is there the day after you send it back to them (drop at post office, not actually delivered to them), when using their return labels.

That wording sounds like a marketplace seller using Amazon to process their returns.

Or Amazon having doubts about the buyer (buying/return patterns or attitude) and wanting to check the goods returned

Just be aware that if Amazon successfully challenge the chargeback the bank are perfectly within their rights to remove the money from your account again just as quickly...
They will. No question about it. 👍

Would you want to use a service that sends you faulty goods then takes 60 days to process the return? Think that answers itself.
