I've been offered breakdown cover through my insurer - One Call. But is it any good?
The cost is £30 for the year and it includes:
Home start. Recovery. Roadside assistance. Unlimited call outs. Wheel changes (subject to you having a serviceable spare tyre and wheel and are able to provide a manufacturer’s key to remove any locking wheel nuts). Nearest destination service. Any insured driver who is using your vehicle, provided they have received permission from you first. Cars, vans and motorcycles. No call out excess. Recovery to a garage where your breakdown is within a 0.5 mile radius of your home address, up to a maximum distance of 15 miles.
Excludes:
Labour charges in excess of one hour. The cost of replacement parts or materials used in the repair. Storage charges incurred as a result of the breakdown. Vehicles immersed in mud, snow, sand or water; or any fault arising from these. Any campervan or any other vehicle modified to provide living accommodation. Putting incorrect fuel in your vehicle.
Restrictions:
When attending an incident and there is a pet on board, there may be extended wait times. Cover only applies to cars, vans and motorcycles up to 3.5 tonnes and excludes any vehicle with living accommodation. The maximum payable for any claim from any one breakdown is £500.00.
Is that comparable with RAC/AA Roadside plans?

For £30 a year?Seems a very good deal.Check the teenie weenie small print that you aren't signing up to renew for 400 years at "full price" of £789 after the "introductory discount"I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Looks like a good price, are they any good ?.You will only find that out when you need to call them out.Coming with your insurance I would assume they are ok.The only bit I would question is, The maximum payable for any claim from any one breakdown is £500.00.If you live in Scotland but breakdown in London how far will the £500 take you.Read thisGet quote,https://www.comparebreakdowncover.co.uk/moneysavingexpert.aspx?a_aid=MSE&a_cid=409d9f04&utm_source=mse&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=mse08-promo-code

I have their basic breakdown cover included "free" with my Classic Car policy.I can't find who it is provided by and I've never had to use it. Not sure if I would want to. It might be perfectly fine but I would use my R.A.C. Personal Cover if it became necessary.1

Thanks everyone.
I've now got a quote with an insurance company underwritten by Aegas than also includes RAC homestart for pretty much the same price as the OneCall quote I had. I think I'll go with that as it gives me a bit more reassurance that it's with RAC, and it's cheaper than joining RAC and getting insurance separately.

Read up on the One Call company, do plenty of due diligence.
Read all the small print, on everything, and familiarise yourself with all the Accident Management/handling Companies that they use.
Cheap - yes.
Good - no.1
