PCN Contravention Code - 01

Dear all
Recently I parked my car at Bournbrook Rd, Selly Oak Birmingham.
This road has space for on street parking with marling and has no restrictions and I parked my car where the blue car is. It was well within the line and was not protruding out.

When I parked the car, I checked at the lampost and did not find any restrictions.
However, I have been fined using contravention code 01 - Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours and they have used this picture as evidence

This sign is in the next lamp post that is before the one where I parked.
Apart from this tiny sign, there is no other indicator - Moreover the parking ticket was issued only to few cars and not the rest?
What grounds can I appeal?
Many Thanks in anticipation!

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there but please note that a Hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway Gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering, and post a new thread; here's your link:Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own, to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate), as they need to see all the small print. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

VJThat is a temporary no waiting sign with an additional instruction stating no loading it looks as though there might be a temporary traffic order attached to the lamp post at the bottom of the photo too.But Pepipoo is the place for this one.1
