EON Direct Debit Discount
I am intending to cancel my direct debit with EON. I dont see why they should expect me to build up a 3 month credit. I want to pay them in arears.
I realise I will lose the DD discount. Does anyone know what it is?
Seperately, my daily standing charge for electricity has just gone from 7p per day to 41.66p per day. A 600% rise!
As the standing charge is supposed to reflect network infrastructure costs, can someone explain to me what part of the network cost has gone up 600%

I can't find it to confirm but when signing up to our latest fix with Eon next it was a 5% saving.
You could of course consider changing to variable whole bill direct debit that way you don't lose the discount and will use up your credit if that is what you want.

As for network costs it's mainly all those small energy companies that went bust we are all paying for in the standing charge2

You had a discounted standing charge due to your fixed tariff, the standing charge until April was about 25p.
So the standing charge has nearly doubled, but was not increased by 600% as you claim. Explanation here as this has been asked dozens of times.

Regarding the direct debit discount, not paying by direct debit is about 7% more expensive.
Why not go for a variable direct debit and pay in arears while keeping the direct debit discount?3 -

You are wrong. I am on a fixed tariff and my standing charge is currently 7p a day. It's not due to change until 23 September.
I've just received an email from EON telling me that its rising to 41.66p per day.
That's a 600% increase.
I'm not sure why you think you know better and/or I am lying.

It's a huge increase because you have come off a very low fix.
Everyone else will also be paying 41p a day when their fixes end but most will have been paying more than you previously so it will not come as such a shock.
Sadly that is the going rate now, just be happy that you have got away with high prices for so long. Time to realise the reality of energy prices.Barnsley, South Yorkshire
