Alloy wheel insurance issue - Advice needed

I fail to see what the problem is here.
Later down the line you are likely to scuff another wheel, may even be the same one you scuffed previously. At that point you would initiate a claim through your alloy wheel insurance for said damage.
The insurer, who is also saying they wont do the wheel, has an exclusion which specifically says Tyre fitting damage, without any context.
Can you see the problem? And neither of them will fix each others faults
The fact that you have come up against this incident is unfortunate but surely, as per my point above, your insurance will not exclude you from claiming in the insurance for the remainder of the policy?
I would suggest you pursue it further with the garage if you believe you have enough proof and log a formal complaint with the insurers stating that whilst you acknowledge the terms and conditions relating to the tyre fitters, you would like to know where you stand should you accidentally kerb them again superseding such damage from the tyre fitters and you are not happy that you pay for a service which hasn’t been fulfilled.Save £5k in 2025 challenge #32

Thanks. Unfortunately I have complained in writing by email without a reply from them. So I've escalated to the motor ombudsman.
The garage have said they may be willing to cover some/less than half of the cost, but not all as damage was already present. I'm sure they too have their own policy on these alloys if their is damage not caused by them.
Problem is the insurers are being uptight a*****s about it, like it was all caused by the garage (even though they have accepted not all of it was) and therefore they no longer want to take responsibility.

Given you're not going to resolve quickly with the ombudsman and future claims on that wheel will be checked against previous photos/reports I'd be sucking this up and making your wheel look shiny again0 -
So the good news is that the ombudsman have decided in my favour!0
