Curved fronted question...

I have three credit cards. They all have several hundred pounds owed on them. One of my credit cards has a lot more available credit and a lower interest rate than the others. I have enough to transfer the balances of the other two onto it. At the moment I am 'not eligible' to do a balance transfer on that card. I have a basic Curve card, if I upgraded the card and used the fronted feature to pay the two cards off with the other one would that be effectively the same as doing a balance transfer and a good idea? Sorry if this seems a daft question, I'm not too clued up on all of this stuff. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that would be more or less the same as a balance transfer. No, it is probably not a good idea: there is a fairly hefty fee for Curve fronted, and of course you would still be paying some interest. Work on reducing the high-interest debts.

It would likely be classed as a ‘cash-like transaction’ and therefore charging you the highest amount of interest. Paying credit with credit normally results in this.
You could possibly utilise the ‘go back in time feature’ if applicable?
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

  • Could you not look to open a 4th card with a zero/promotional rate then transfer both that one and close card 2/3 down?

When I was a Curve Metal holder (Free of charge), I paid a credit card with a credit card using curve fronted, there was no fees involved however your experience may be different. You could do a smaller test amount of each card and see if there are any fees.
