Pet insurance claim

My dog had an operation in June, the Vet put the claim in and the insurer sent me an email to say they had the claim on 19th June.
I emailed them and just got a generic reply saying how busy they are and thanking me for my patience. Does anyone know how long claims would usually take?

I think that's far too long- contact the complaints department to see if that gets things sorted out.

I sent the email on the 3rd, they replied today, said that they expect the claim to be assessed "within 10 to 12 weeks". Can't believe they need 3 to 5 months to look at a claim.
