I am sure like others I would be interested to see photo's but as others have said almost certainly her problem. Hours a week ? C

If it's causing that much hassle maybe put a black plastic membrane over the top of it to stop the weeds

Either put weed killer down, or get one of those weed burner things.

We have a patio that wasn't laid properly and the weeds are so ridiculous I have given up - I just don't have time! I just use week killer then keep the dogs off it for 24 hours.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

@pinkshoes , a weedburner is an excellent suggestion! I've never used one but having seen them in action I can imagine that, like pressure-washing, it's one of those 'best fun you can have legally' activities. :)

Mr Pinkshoes tends to use our weed burner. He feels I look too much like a deranged lunatic when using it and doesn't trust me!  :D  It works well and does its job.

The weed killer also works well but does require dry weather and patience.

It will be 'interesting' when the weed burner meets the weed membrane through the very thin layer of gravel. >:)

This is easily sorted out. My front garden is all decorative gravel and I don’t have any membrane at all. I spray it with a mix of glyphosate and flazasulfuron (a pre-emergent).  The brands names I use are ‘Gallop’ and ‘Paradise’. You can easily find them online. Spray it now and you’ll not need to do it again until next Spring at the earliest.

I would seriously recommend spraying with eg Roundup and not weed burning

I wanted to get a weed burner but the OH was dead set against it.  And then realised I wanted to get one so he could use it.  And they were sold out at Lidl so it never happened.  So we strim.    But given the amount of dry weather that's probably safer currently.

Grass would be so much easier - 10-15 minutes a week cutting grass sounds like a dream compared to maintaining this 'maintenance free' style garden! its honestly awful.
It's only awful because you have let the weeds grow. If you spend 10 minutes per week removing the weeds when they are small, no problems

It isn't necessarily the membrane which has failed. Weeds will still self seed in any layer of gravel over time.
