At the very least I would google their company name with "reviews" and leave some factual reviews online about their rip off tactics.neilcg70 said:Thanks everyone, I'm just going to chalk it up to experience appreciate your time to comment!
I wonder how many other people have been ripped off in the same way. Very convenient for them...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Where there are card present transactions. Bother Visa & Mastercard require proof (terminal receipt) to be able to take forward.neilcg70 said:Thanks @eddddy and @Manxman_in_exile
I appreciate your help. All transactions were contactless with no receipts and my CC company are refusing to submit the claim to MasterCard due to lack of evidence and unfortunately I have no photograph of the price list and there is nothing published online that I can use as evidence.
Mastercard in this case will simply not take it forward as the required evidence is not there. As well as telling your card provider not to do it & charge them for the failed chargeback.Life in the slow lane0 -
@born_again - so should you always be asking for a paper receipt with contactless transactions? I know when we were at Wimbledon everything we bought (food and drink, Pimms etc) was contactless. I'm pretty certain (but not sure) that my wife queried this and was told they couldn't provide receipts. Should receipts always be available? And if they aren't (or if you are told they aren't) what do you do if you only find out after the transaction?born_again said:

Contactless payments do not automatically print receipts.. it seems the rules are outdated for the current payment methods.1

@Manxman_in_exile If it's a refund then YES I would ask for one. Rest of the time, unless it's a high value purchase then I do not bother.
They can always provide a receipt. But I would guess & part of the reason OP had this issue is the staff do not know how to do it & simply blag their way out of it. As no doubt they are not direct employees of the company, just temps to cover events.
Card regulations are updated several times a year... 👀 which is a nightmare at times.
But it has always been the case with chargebacks. Proof wins the day. Just like a court case.
We have even had someone try a non receipt on a chip & pin purchase. Yes they did take the item with them, but tried to lie about it. We rang retailer. Found out this person had tried it with them several times.Sufficee to say they were banned from store & had to look for a new bank.
TBH. Had I dealt with this I would just have given the OP the £20. So long as they were not shouting the odds about it 👍But then, I'm nice like that & it's not my money I'm giving away.Life in the slow lane1
