Help please

Hi, I would so appreciate any help with this issue. I recently had my house decorated. I chose a decorator with good reviews and a well established website. The house has stone walls which I knew required specific preparation work and specific paint. The decorator assured me he knew what he was doing and when I asked him to confirm what paint he was using he said "leave the decorating to me". Soon after he finished the job the paint started bubbling all over the walls. I contacted the paint company (Teknos - he left the leftover paint) and they said he has used the wrong paint for the surface (paint is not suitable for stone). In order to put it right, several other decorators have advised the paint needs to be removed. I have had various quotes for removing the paint - averaging £3000-4000 + cost of repainting. It is very time intensive, messy and expensive job. I have asked the original decorator to come back but have not told him the extent of the problem as I am worried he will disappear. He said he will come back after finishing his current job. My question is, what do I ask / expect him to do to remedy it, is it likely he will have insurance for this kind of error, and what would be the process for me if he refuses to come back / remedy it.  I want to make sure I know what I am dealing with before I have the conversation with him. I am also a woman, living alone and worried as he is quite an intimidating character so need to make sure I know where I stand. Many thanks.

I'd expect the wrong paint removed AND (all money returned OR the house repained).

I don't think his insurance, even if he has it, covers such errors.

If he refuses, Small Claims Court (online) is the only way I know.
