Green Energy - is it possible to set up a regular (fixed) DD monthly payment?

Definitely I was just adding to your statement as it could become something really bad straight after a Christmas big spend👍
Being as some don't know how to calculate bills I can only imagine the forum come Winter time for those on variable DD and then the 6 month later bills from the likes of EDF.1 -
The suitability of variable DD is going to depend on individual users , yes there will be some who enter it blinkered & can only see the bright lights of lower costs today in summer. Personally as someone who is leaving a supplier that has little comprehension of my usage & insists on a higher than needed DD & higher than needed credit balance i'm glad to be on the move to GEUK & variable DD.Due to some successful energy saving measures & the Gov't winter £400 sub i can look forward to a winter without energy payments.0

Sensible policy, shame it isnt a year.

Yes, I can see real problems coming in a few months.
One of the problems is that people who have problems paying the fixed direct debit order might go for the cheaper (in summer) variable direct debit order without consideration what will happen in winter.

I'm very happy to be on variable DD as a new customer to GEUK, and I hope that the switch to fixed is optional and not compulsory. They will definitely not have an accurate picture of our usage after 6 months, as ours is extremely seasonal. But for those who are used to spending what they happen to have in their bank account every month, it's going to need a very different approach to money.Personally, I welcome the fact that if I switch something off today then it will immediately save me money, this month. This seems a lot more responsible and grown-up. With fixed DD you don't feel the benefit (or pain) of your actions until perhaps 6 or more months later. I'm pretty sure this will make me much more aware of waste, hopefully others will feel the same.Anyone with a smart meter and in home display should be able to get it to display this month's usage, so it shouldn't be a surprise when that big bill does arrive.0
