My monthly bill has increased by £193

Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker First Post
Hi all
I am with British gas and live in a 1 bed bungalow with my disabled wife. Our monthly bill is to increase from £123  to a whopping £317! All British gas can say ( via online chat as the office is always closed when I finish work) is thst its a fair price for our usage. I have tried looking at switching but it's impossible at the moment.
Does anyone know if others have had such a price increase and does anyone have any advice on what to do?
Please help!
Thanks
Paul

The best advice is to use less, i assume you are on the SVR? if so that is the best you will get.
Everyone has to cut back on their usage.

Do you keep your own meter readings please ?

Have you actual meter readings please -  look for a bill of 12 months ago with the letter A  (or our read, your read, C etc -  NOT E)   and today please

Edit if you are coming off a good fix this is quite possible.  Be aware this is a sign of things to come.

PS Did you get the £150 ?  You will also get £400 in installments, plus the Winter fuel Allowance and the disability benefits.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Are you talking about the ACTUAL BILL or how much BG have asked you to pay by monthly Direct Debit ?

Have you recently taken a new fix or come off an old fix and moved to the standard variable tariff ?

What is your actual annual use for both fuels in kWh and what tariff are you now on ?

Please pots the relevant standing charges and unit rates and someone will check what your usage will cost.

Is you account currently in credit or debit ?

Have you chosen an expensive fix with BG? You don't have to choose a fix, you can go to the SVT if you prefer but not all suppliers make that clear
