Keycare 48hr waiting period

Options
Reading the terms & conditions of this insurance, it states that the keys have to be lost for at least 48hrs before a claim can be made. I can’t imagine many people being able to wait that length of time before getting a locksmith to let them into their home or their car. Am I missing something? There doesn’t seem to be any point to this insurance with such a long waiting period.

You're missing that you would get the locks changed and then be reimbursed (up to the policy cover) after the 48 hours (or 3 days on their current terms).

But they will not pay if the costs aren’t pre-approved by them and it sounds like they won’t approve any costs until after 48hrs. Perhaps it’s just poorly worded.

If it's your only key (which should be unlikely) then you are stuffed  - if it's a lost key but you can simply use another then it seems reasonable to allow some time for the lost ones to be found rather than paying for locks to be changed immediately.
