Is this acceptable from a mainstream bank?
I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

Earlier this year I waited 40 mins and gave up with Royal Bank of Scotland.  I complained, went through their complaints procedures and got £50 from them.  The recorded message kept saying they had “unprecedented number of calls” but after 12 weeks of same message I did think it can’t be unprecedented any more, when would they accept the number of calls were in fact normal and it was their staffing issues that were the problem not the number of calls.

The situation might well have changed very recently?
Just to relate my experience, early last month, I did phone them to find out why my Debit Card had been declined for an Amazon purchase.
Spoke to a human in less than 5 minutes.
    Maybe I was lucky?
I have previously found "Cora" to be as thick as mince!
Not unlike many of these "bots". Amazon's being a prime example of stupidity, no pun intended.

Last time I rang RBS I was put straight through. It largely depends on when you ring them though. I was on the phone to virgin one evening for 2 hours only to be told the department I was trying to get through to had closed 7 minutes ago. I rang again the next day in the morning and I was on hold for just 15 seconds.

    Congrats on £50 OP

My last, "how much do I want to go away", was £100.

The agent said hold, I'll put it to the boss, prob himself, 45 sec, £100 was mine.

Re we're ever so busy but your call is important, I put the mobile on speaker which
leaves me  free to decide where we're dining on the ton. B):)
