Quick question about Green Energy

Recently switched to them and I knew before I signed up it was a variable payment but I had seen a post on here somewhere that their website said it was possible to switch to a fixed direct debit, which I prefer.
Just emailed them and got the message that it's not possible for any of their tariffs.
Wondering if anyone can point me at the place on the website where it was mentioned because I can't find it. Although it is possible that the post on here was mistaken,
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I think Green Energy response to this has been not to currently offer fixed direct debits  to new signups

https://www.greenenergyuk.com/faqs & scroll down to "what is a fixed DD"

"A fixed Direct Debit means that we estimate the amount of electricity you would use over a year and divide by the 12 months, providing you with the same single payment each month. This means that in the summer you build up some credit on the account which helps people budget for the extra electricity used over the winter period.

You will receive a quarterly invoice.

If you can send us regular meter reads this helps us to ensure the Direct Debit is set at the right amount.

This type of payment is great for people who want to budget for their expenditure every month without fluctuations in their bills.

Note that if your energy usage changes, we will need to adjust your direct debit amount. We’ll usually send you a credit (if your energy usage has gone down) or a catch-up bill (if your energy usage has increased)"

Presumably, they did offer it in the past.

I asked them out of interest in July and they didn't seem to have an issue setting a fixed direct debit. Did you get a screenshot of your estimated usage and fixed DD ask them to set that?

No, I just emailed my account number, my suggested amount and asked what the process was and got this reply:

I’m afraid all of our accounts are set on a variable direct debit currently. It may be something that we offer in the future and we will advise all customers when it's there.

Sounds like a change in tact. Maybe so they can handle the incoming £400

    Just a guess.

This what Cameron Stewart from GEUK told me about not offering Fixed direct debit at outset of setting up the account last week.

"I’m afraid that we wont be able to put you onto a fixed monthly DD until we have at least 6 months worth of usage, this is due to the fact that we need accurate usage across at least two seasons before we can set a fixed rate, the reason for this is we don’t want you to go into debt and have a big outstanding balance".

In hindsight it maybe better to pay monthly in arrears by DD especially now the government £400 will be credited to our accounts monthly from October to April.
