Due to a horrendous year of smart metering gone wrong, we have been offered the V14 tariffs, backdated to 1/5/22. As we are on the SVT, and have a small gas usage due to other heating means, is it worth taking up this offer?

G 27.22 S/C & 9.78 /KWh1 -
Yes take it reason being energy use should be low until October and the expected prices come October will see you saving lots over the price cap prices.1

Do you have data what you use from 1/5/22 to today?
Also what is your annual usage?1 -
Just looked at the latest EoN-Next offers on leccy (v1.7) and they are significantly higher than that. so it does look like a bit a of a bargain although I dont have gas so I cant tell if that's any good.
The current thinking is that cap prices will be increase by around 55% over the current cap, which puts leccy into around 45-55p/kwh. I dont know what people are estimating gas to be but I suspect it's not going to be good and most people use a lot more gas than they do leccy
Based on averages of 12,000kwh for gas 1p/kw =£120 whereas 3000kwh of leccy 1/kwh = £30. 10p on a standing charge is £36.50 so you need to work out how much you use and when you use it.
As Mttsy says, your gas consumption should be pretty low between April and October so it could be worth taking a punt - you need to do the sums based on what you use between Oct-April and what you use between April and Oct.
Although we are all electric our split comes out to be about 65-70% of our annual energy use in the winter compared to 30-35% in the summer so paying a bit more in the summer when your consumption is low to offset a potentially much higher cost on a greater consumption next winter may be worth it depending on your consumption.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I'm having a nightmare with EON over my readings issue is they credited me with 8000 units! How did you manage to get that deal I would like to try my luck at that!1

Hello all, thanks for your initial advice.
It's difficult to calculate because of the 3 different electricity and 2 different gas metres that we have had, but as a rough estimate, I would say that we use around E: 2800KW/h & 3800KW/h per year, though like everyone we are trying to cut back.
Once again thanks in advance for your advice.0 -
Also our use since May has been around E: 700KW/h & G: 300KW/h0
