Money saving for today…
Worked from home so saved 20+ miles worth of petrol. I have to go into the office tomorrow though because my house is too hot to work.
£2 from Vinted. I keep my Vinted account neutral - I never add or withdraw money but reinvest in my wardrobe.I’m have lost weight and I am having breast surgery soon so I need to update my wardrobe. Last year I made the decision to colour co-ordinate my wardrobe going forward. It’s been amazing. Everything is either black white or orange (because it suits me and makes me happy). It’s money saving too because I don’t need to buy X to match Y. The only exception is blue denim jeans which are practically neutral anyway.5 -

That’s a good idea about the Vinted account, I might try that going forward.
Good luck with your MF journey and yes to the balance, I was just playing about with numbers the other day and decided not to overpay as much as I had been going forward as it didn’t make that much difference long term but gave me wriggle room.Mortgage OP 2025 £6000/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

I’m doing well on Vinted this week.Yesterday I collected a winter coat and it’s gorgeous. Only £11 including postage. It doesn’t look worn at all.I also ordered a jasper conran shirt for work, which should fit after surgery. This was only £4.Not much else on the money saving front today. I’ve got a busy weekend of studying and tidying the house. We’re going on holiday on the 13th so I’ve got lots to do before then and I’m in work for a few days next week.5

Morning all.Yesterday was not a good spend day. Not because we spent a lot but because we didn’t really need to spend as much.
We go on holiday next weekend and husband has realised that he has no swimming trunks, hat or swim vest for the pool (he had some very dodgy moles taken off so covers up). We get the shops and it’s all sales and autumn/winter stuff so he has to pay premium for everything 🙄
I have saved some money in a sad way though. I was due to see a friend from way back in London on Monday so that would’ve probably cost £100 with train and lunch. But I have cancelled as he said very transphobic things in a text. I haven’t seen this friend for many years but it’s sad anyway. I feel glad that I stuck up for my principles though.I looked at our budgets so far and we are overspending in house and food budget, but underspending in petrol. We are fairly even so far though.I did our gas and electricity readings today so should expect a bill soon. We are pretty much on track with those at the moment. We pay about £114 a month.I also sold a pair of shoes on vinted so that’s a bit extra.4 -
Hi Moralpanic and happy new diary!I agree with having a bit of room for fun in the budget. When I was on my DFW journey I found that restricting too much made me fall off the wagon and overspend big time. Allowing a small amount of treat money helped me stay on track and pay things off faster.I feel I should investigate Vinted. I don't tend to spend much on clothes but it does seem like there's some real bargains out there.MFW 2024 £27500/7500 Mortgage £129,500 Jan 22 Final payment June 38 Now £68489.08 FP May 36 Emergency Fund £20,000 100% Added to ISA 24 £8,060 Save 12k in 24 #31 £20,034.76/20,000 Debt Free 31.07.142
