    Apart from the benefits to the station of being able to state it was a recent entry, I would assume that more of the people who pay to enter will be doing so near the closing time which should make it more likely that they will be around to answer the call - clearly they haven't got the hang of that.

    Potentially each free entry has the same chance as a paid one - there are just likely to be many times more paid entries than free ones, especially for the more recent competitions. When the competitions were weekly, you could always make the same number of entries whatever entry method was used, there was no requirement to answer in 5 rings and there were more forum winners. There also used to be regular winners on here of the ITV competitions until they changed the prize structure and free entry method so the free entries became a tiny proportion of the total)

    Do the entries still accumulate from day to day during the competition, or is it all reset daily?
